Meanwhile, Billy is having a hard time with Zoe and Nick's roles in the play. Is the past doomed to repeat itself?"Jane By Design" is a light-hearted drama about Jane, a teenager who lands a job at Donovan Decker, a hip fashion house, when they mistake her for an adult. Jane soon finds herself juggling life both as a regular high school student and as an assistant to a high powered executive in the cutthroat world of fashion... all while trying to keep her true identity a secret. High schooler Jane Quimby juggles school and a job as an assistant to a fashion executive.

Jane By Design stars Erica Dasher (The Lake) as Jane Quimby; Nick Roux (Lemonade Mouth) as Billy Nutter, Rowly Dennis (Desperate Housewives) as Jeremy Jones, India de Beaufort (One Tree Hill) as India Jourdain, Meagan Tandy (10 Things I Hate About You) as Lulu Pope, Matthew Atkinson (CSI) as Nick Fadden. And featuring Andie MacDowell (Four Weddings and a Funeral) who stars as Gray Chandler Murray - Jane's steely boss whose constant demands keep her on her toes.

ABC Family has crafted a fashion-based soap from “Prada,” borrowing most of the “Prada” characters as well as its central premise and general sense of good, devilish fun.

There are worse ideas, and “Jane by Design” has the potential to be an amusing and endearing show — thanks largely to the performance of Erica Dasher as Jane Quimby, the smart and plucky star who steps into the Anne Hathaway role.

Jane thinks she's applying for a low-level position at a high-fashion house. Thanks to a misunderstanding, she gets hired as executive assistant to Gray Chandler Murray (Andie MacDowell), who is suspiciously reminiscent of Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly.

But that’s okay, because Miranda herself was suspiciously reminiscent of Anna Wintour, the real-life fashion magazine tyrant who inspired Lauren Weisberger’s original 2003 novel, “The Devil Wears Prada.”

In a sense, then, what we have with “Jane by Design” is Hollywood's version of “Telephone.”

Because “Jane” is aimed at ABC Family's teen-girl audience, though, it makes a few changes.

Most crucially, Jane herself is a high school student. No, wait, she’s a high school outcast, much as that strains credibility. Her best friend is a guy, Billy Nutter (Nicholas Roux), who helps her survive continuing derision from the mean girls, mainly Lulu Pope (Megan Tandy).

True to soap tradition, there are lots of secrets. No one at the fashion house knows Jane is still in high school, for instance, and no one at school knows about the Gray deal.

Gray’s fashion queen has a different style than Miranda Priestly, though she’s no less comically wicked. The big difference is she has to compete for screen time with all the drama back in high school.

The drama thickens fast, and if the creators keep stirring rapidly, “Jane by Design” could become the same good soapy fun as its best ABC Family sisters.

Jane by Design is a fantastic show! If you're like me, and you watch other ABC Family series, this one is different than all of the others! Jane Quimby, a high schooler, works at a fashion internship and along the way has to stay in high school, and live with her adorable older brother Ben. Ben works at the school where Jane and her best friend Billy Nutter go.

(Billy is so hot, by the way ladies!) This show is quirky, different, and funny! All of the characters really mesh well together and every week when I watch it, I laugh, smile, and love to see what's going to happen next! I would recommend this show to anyone interested because not only are the characters cute and funny, but the show is great and different than what other shows are like nowadays! CHECK IT OUT!! :)
