Meanwhile, Emily gets another flashback from "that night" which leads her to a surprising suspect and Aria starts to question Ezra's sudden influx of cash.Never trust a pretty girl with an ugly secret. Gossip thrives amid the Mercedes-Benz, mega mansions, and perfectly manicured hedges in the exclusive town of Rosewood, Pennsylvania. Everyone has something to hide. Based off the book series of the same name, the series follows four estranged best friends Spencer, Hanna, Aria, and Emily who are reunited after their best friend and queen bee of the group, Alison, goes missing only to discover they are receiving messages from an anonymous "A" who knows all their secrets.

The girls return to Rosewood after last season's reveal of A's identity, but there are still more secrets that loom before the girls.

Most importantly, we learned that Melissa (Torrey DeVitto) lost the baby the day after Ian's death — and, oh yeah, she was the Black Swan! According to Melissa, she was blackmailed into going to the Masquerade Ball and distracting Jenna (Tammin Sursok), which we did not expect. (We also learned that Mrs. Hastings took on Garrett's [Yani Gellman] case to protect Melissa.)

Meanwhile, Detective Wilden (Bryce Johnson) was seen visiting Mona (Janel Parrish) to try to find out more about who dug up Alison's (Sasha Pieterse) body, Jason (Drew Van Acker) wrote a giant check, we met Maya's (Bianca Lawson) cousin, Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) and Hanna broke up after Hanna wouldn't tell him about the new "A" — because that "A" almost killed Caleb's mom (!), and Aria (Lucy Hale) tried to get her mom back into the dating scene.

While we'd long suspected Melissa was the Black Swan, we're shocked by her reasons (assuming she's telling the truth).

We're also very curious to know what Mona told Wilden, and we're still recovering from that heartbreaking Haleb breakup scene. All in all, we give this episode 4 stars.

Pretty Little Liars is an interesting teen drama shown on ABC Family. The plot of the show involves a circle of four female friends who become engrossed in a missing persons case when the "queen bee" of their group, Allison, goes missing and the remaining friends find themselves being blackmailed by "A" who seems to know an awful lot of their secrets.

Unlike the other ABC Family teen dramas (i.e. - Secret Life of the American Teenager) I found that Pretty Little Liars has much better character development and the actors who portray them are all very believable and talented. Each character has their own interesting subplot which is what really drives the show.

The initial idea of teenage girls being blackmailed definitely was not interesting to me but after the first episode I found myself hooked. I felt like I had to know what happened next to each character, even the ones that seem to have more minor roles.

This show is interesting enough that even if you are not a teenage girl it is still fun to watch and less feminine or religiously biased than other ABC Family series out there.
