VH1 has teamed up with Queen Latifah's Flavor Unit Entertainment to bring viewers "Single Ladies", a new comedic drama series that asks the question: what do women really want in a relationship? "Single Ladies" is a comedic drama about Val, Keisha, and April - three best friends with different philosophies on sex and relationships. Val (Stacey Dash) is an ambitious aspiring fashion mogul who wants to find a true partner. Keisha (LisaRaye McCoy), on the other hand, is a former video dancer just looking for a rich man to keep her in style. April (Charity Shea), has supposedly found the perfect man and the perfect marriage - but is learning that marriage isn't necessarily a happy ending. "Single Ladies" is a modern, sexy series set in the world of Atlanta fashion, music, and celebrity that will constantly explore which woman has the right approach to relationships. It was out with the old and in with the new on the season 2 premiere of "Single Ladies."
There were some major changes when "Single Ladies" returned to VH1 on Monday night. For starters, there was no Val as Stacey Dash left the show shortly after season 1 wrapped up.
But who could have foreseen that there would be no Malcolm (at first) and at least two career changes?
What we liked:
- The writers did a good job of explaining Val's exit, but we wish they had to explained why she went to Milan.
- We appreciate that Keisha, April and Omar poured one out for Val...but did they have to do it on such a cute dress during store hours? Hilarious.
- Viewers finally got to see this Shawn dude that turned Keisha into a heartbreaker...well, before she met Malcolm.
- The writers touch on the fact that there are different types of love. As Raquel found out, you can love someone but love is not enough to keep a relationship going.
- Omar's mini-breakdown was priceless.
- Christina was written off the show along with Val. Good riddance, she didn't add that much to the story last season.
Tambay tells me that your reactions to recent Single Ladies season 2 posts were weak, suggesting that you all aren't very much interested in the show, hence no S&A talkback like we did for Scandal, since you guys evidently determine what we write about :)
But an open thread is allowed for those of you who are fans of the series.
Season 2 premiered last night, Monday, 9 pm, on VH1, picking up where season 1 left off.
There was one big difference however: Val (Stacey Dash) is no longer part of the show, and viewers were introduced to her *replacement* Raquel (played by Denise Vasi).
If you all make enough noise, maybe Tambay will change his mind, and since it seems like I'm the only S&A writer who watches the show, it's probably going to be me running the show.
