This animated series follows Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, the Incredible Hulk, Giant Man and Wasp, a team of super heroes who save the world.A highlight of my childhood is the comic book, The Avengers. It was my first series I began collecting. To see it coming to life in the form of movies, I've been unfortunately stuck with the only animated version from a decade or so ago that was the most embarrassing comic book cartoon ever made. It didn't match the comic and was so ridiculously void of any quality dialogue that one has to wonder who at Marvel approved the scripts and voice casting.

Luckily it was quickly canceled and most people have never heard of it. Fast forward to 2010. In preparation for the upcoming Avengers movie, Marvel has gone back to the drawing board and developed a cartoon worthy of the name! Yes, it still has some corniness and Marvel has still not created a cartoon worthy of matching the superb DC animated toons of the past 2 decades.

However, it is definitely one of the best Marvel toons and a fantastic pre-cursor to the films. The cast is right, the stories match the comic and they also appear to line up with the films created thus far. If you are a fan of the comic and enjoy seeing them come to life, Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes is worth the 30 minutes a week.

So I just finished watching all the 1st season's 26 episodes of The Avengers: Earths mightiest Heroes (thank you netflix) and I've got to say, it is really good. I'm not going to go on about how I've read every comic ever made blah-blah-blah, because I haven't. I'm one of those pesky bandwagon fans that never heard of Iron Man until the movie came out, but I've loved it and every other Avenger movie ever since. And yes the main reason why I watched this series is because I'm excited about the upcoming Avengers movie.

I also wanted to get caught up on the rest of the story. It wasn't long until the theme song was stuck in my head all day and I had to go back and keep watching. I've read a lot of the previous reviews and it looks like the writers have stayed pretty true to the original comics and that's not hard to believe because the story is really good, one of the best I've seen on an animated series. I can only hope that that the movie will do the same.

I have faith in Joss Whedon but I try not to get too excited because I've been let down by lots super hero movies before. (cough- cough* green lantern) So I cant say whether or not a well versed Marvel fan will be satisfied with this rendition of the Avengers or not, I can defiantly say that a average popcorn eating summer movie fan like myself should enjoy it as much as I have- as long as expensive CGI and explosions aren't required.

Marvel Entertainment, LLC and Disney XD announced that a "new Marvel Universe" programming block named Marvel Universe which includes Season 2 of Avengers and the animated Ultimate Spider-Man series that began broadcasting in April 2012.

The series initially features a team based on the roster for the original Avengers, composed of Iron Man, Ant-Man, Hulk, Thor, and the Wasp. The team is later joined by Captain America, Black Panther, Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, and Vision, while Spider-Man is named to reserve status. In terms of tone and style, the series is based primarily on the original stories by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. However, it also tends to utilize material from all eras of the comic's run and other sources such as the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
