However, Norwich were far from comfortable winners in the previous round against Scunthorpe, and their next League One visitors are managed by a man who was something of a cup expert as a player.

Doncaster boss Dean Saunders won the FA Cup with Liverpool and Turkish Cup with Galatasary, either side of a match-winning two-goal salvo in the 1994 League Cup final for Aston Villa against Manchester United.

Saunders, though, has history against him in this fixture: Doncaster have never won at Carrow Road, and it is seven years since they progressed beyond this stage of the competition.

Norwich

Norwich have twice won this competition, in 1962 and 1985, but they have not progressed beyond the third round since 1995-96.

The Canaries knocked out Scunthorpe in the previous round this season, but they lost to another third-tier club, Milton Keynes Dons, in the second round last year.

They are winless in the league, with three draws and two goals from five games.

Doncaster

Rovers are making their first appearance in the third round since 2006.

They have not reached the fourth round since 2005, when they made the last eight.

They last eliminated a Premier League club in November 2005, beating Aston Villa 3-0 at home.

This is their first away tie in seven matches since defeating Notts County in the first round in 2009.
