Of the 50 games played, Forest have recorded 18 wins, and Birmingham City have come away with 15 victories.

The most recent encounter between these two sides at City Ground was less than a year ago, in October 2011, as the visitors ran out cosy 1-3 winners in a Championship match.

The striker was not expected to feature this weekend but manager Sean O'Driscoll is not ruling Cox out of his plans. Should Cox not be deemed fit enough, Billy Sharp is likely to make his full debut.

Fellow striker Dexter Blackstock was forced to withdraw from international duty with Antigua & Barbuda due to a slight back problem but he is confident he will be fit to play.

O'Driscoll will check on recent signing Henri Lansbury. The midfielder arrived at Forest with an ankle injury but it is hoped he will be in contention.

Birmingham skipper Stephen Carr has been ruled out for up to six months after undergoing surgery on his knee.

The 36-year-old had been on the verge of a first-team comeback after shaking off a thigh problem, but he has now been ruled out until March at the earliest.

"Monday and Tuesday he was training really well prior to the Peterborough United game and we had pencilled him in to play, and he was really positive," manager Lee Clark told the Birmingham Mail.

"Prior to the game he felt a little problem in the knee so we ruled him out. Over the course of the next few days it became really swollen.

 Nottingham Forest
• Forest are one of only two unbeaten clubs in the Championship with their return of eight points from four games - the clubs best start for six years.

• This is Sean O'Driscoll's 600th game as a manager (Bournemouth, Doncaster and Forest).

• Forward Dexter Blackstock is on the verge of his 250th career league appearance, and Chris Cohen could make his 200th appearance in Nottingham Forest's midfield.

Birmingham City

• Blues have lost all three away games in league and cup.

• Two of their four league goals were scored in stoppage time, while last seasons top away scorers in this division (41 goals in 23 games) are averaging only a goal a game on the road this term (two from two).

• Jonathan Spector is teetering on his 200th club career appearance.
