No criminal ever outsmarts Jane - except perhaps Red John, who unwillingly motivated Patrick to start fighting crime.When it comes to talk about future seasons, one has to touch upon CBS’ recent decision to abruptly cancel CSI: Miami without providing the producers enough time to end the series appropriately. Fortunately, The Mentalist doesn’t appear to be anywhere near the position that CSI: Miami was when it was canceled. But if it does happen, Heller promises that they’ll know well enough in advance to make sure closure is provided for fans.
Of course, making the move to Sunday night may still have fans worried about what may happen to their favorite series. Thanks to Sunday night no longer carrying the terrible programming stigma that it has in the past, Heller has no worries about viewers finding The Mentalist in his new timeslot.
While we won’t for sure know how The Mentalist will do on Sundays nights, CBS’ decision to move the series to the weekends represents their intention to expand their schedule to include compelling series across the entirety of the broadcast week, instead of solely focusing on certain key weekday programming.
So make sure that your viewing schedules are adjusted accordingly, as Patrick Jane takes on Sunday nights this fall.

Show Summary: THE MENTALIST stars Golden Globe Award nominee Simon Baker as Patrick Jane, an independent consultant with the California Bureau of Investigation (CBI), who has a remarkable track record for solving serious crimes by using his razor-sharp skills of observation. Within the Bureau, Jane is notorious for his blatant lack of protocol and his semi-celebrity past as a psychic medium, whose paranormal abilities he now admits he feigned.
Jane’s role in cracking a series of tough, high-profile cases is greatly valued by his fellow agents; however, no-nonsense Senior Agent Teresa Lisbon alternates between reluctantly acknowledging Jane’s usefulness and blasting him for his theatrics, narcissism and dangerous lack of boundaries. Lisbon’s team includes agents Kimball Cho, Wayne Rigsby and Grace Van Pelt, who all think Jane’s a loose cannon but admire his charm and knack for clearing cases.
I don't imagine that Patricia Arquette is too pleased with this series! Her series titled Medium is basically the same premise as this show, but I found it to be aimed directly at women. Thats where the Mentalist shines because it is aimed at all demographics really.
Not only that but the show is witty, funny, and mysterious all at the same time. Basically it is a bunch of episodes that each of murder investigations where the Mentalist comes in to predict who did it. There is also a main storyline with a murderer called Red John who murdered the protagonists family.
The episodes with Red John in them are the best ones so far, and I think the viewers are looking forward to seeing the final showdown between Red John and the protagonist!
