But Tottenham, who suffered a shock home defeat by Wigan Athletic last weekend, are still facing a huge task as they bid to end City's 34-game unbeaten run at home in the league.

The defending Premier League champions have experienced a tricky season and Tuesday's draw with Ajax leaves them on the brink of UEFA Champions League elimination.

City have failed to find anything like the form of their previous campaign and manager Roberto Mancini's position has come under scrutiny as a consequence.

Manchester City

City have fired in the most shots on target this season (65) and allowed their opponents the fewest (28).

Sergio Aguero has contributed five of the last nine league goals scored by City; three goals and two
assists.

If selected, Carlos Tevez will be making his 100th Manchester City appearance, while Mario Balotelli could feature in the Premier League for the 50th time.

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham are looking to seal top-flight victories at both Manchester clubs for the first time in the same season since 1959-60. They have already won 3-2 at Old Trafford this term.

A win for Tottenham would be their 300th of the Premier League era.

Last weekend's defeat to Wigan was the first time in 10 league games that Spurs had failed to score this season. However, they have kept only one clean sheet this term.

If selected, William Gallas will be making his 300th Premier League start.
