The Canaries will be hoping to improve upon a record which has seen them lose 26 and win only 7 of the 50 games.

The previous match played between the two at St. Mary's was within the last three years, in December 2009, where the two teams cancelled each other out in an enthralling 2-2 draw in an (Associate Members) match.

The Saints are now aiming to make it three consecutive wins in the top flight for the first time since December 2003 and edged a seven-goal thriller the last time the two clubs met in the Premier League in April 2005.

The most recent meeting came in February 2010 in League One and five of Southampton's starting line-up from that 2-0 victory also started the weekend triumph over Newcastle.

Adam Lallana scored in the last league encounter at St Mary's against Norwich and the midfielder has been one of the players to impress since stepping up to the Premier League.

Norwich, meanwhile, head to the South Coast on a six-game unbeaten run in the league, which has brought three wins at Carrow Road and three draws on their travels.

The latest of those came at Everton at the weekend when Sebastien Bassong's late header was just reward for an impressive second-half performance at Carrow Road.

Ruddy was replaced towards the end of Saturday's 1-1 draw at Everton by Mark Bunn, who will deputise if the England keeper fails to recover in time.

Centre-half Michael Turner will again miss out due to a shoulder injury and he is also unlikely to be fit to face his former club Sunderland at the weekend.

On-loan striker Harry Kane is still sidelined with a foot injury, but defender Russell Martin is available again following his back problem.

Southampton

Southampton have scored at least once in 11 of their 13 Premier League games.

Nigel Adkins's men kept their first clean sheet this season against Newcastle.

No club has lost more home league games than Southampton (three) - equal most with Newcastle, Wigan and QPR.

Norwich

Norwich are unbeaten in their last six Premier League matches. It's their longest unbeaten run since going seven without defeat from January to February 1994.

The Canaries have conceded just two league goals in their last 554 minutes of Premier League football.

Norwich are one point worse off than they were at this stage of last season.
