The most recent encounter between these two sides at Parkhead was just last season, in November 2011, with Celtic annihilating their visitors 5-0 in a Scottish Premier match.
The Wales international picked up the niggle during Wednesday night's 1-0 Scottish Cup fourth-round replay win over Arbroath at Gayfield Park in which he scored the winner, but the Hoops boss is confident he "should be okay".
Midfielder Kris Commons remains out with a thigh injury, while winger James Forrest will resume training on Monday as he continues his recovery from a hamstring complaint.
St Mirren will be without the suspended Lee Mair for their trip to Celtic in the Scottish Premier League.
Mair has picked up six yellow cards so far this season and as a result will serve a one-match ban.
Danny Lennon has been delighted to see Paul McGowan make a return to training, however this weekend's fixture comes too soon for the former Celtic striker and he is joined on the sidelines by long-term absentee Darren McGregor.
Celtic manaegr Neil Lennon: "St Mirren are a good model for a lot of SPL clubs. I think they're good to watch. He [Danny Lennon] is a progressive manager, he's trying to play the game the right way.
"I think they're one of the better teams in the division to watch and they're dangerous.
"Danny'll have his team very motivated and he may come up with something a little bit different.
"We will take the game as seriously as any other game and, obviously, I want to improve our home form now. It's something we need to remedy. Our away form's been fantastic.
"We have to start playing better at home."
St Mirren manager Danny Lennon: "Neil Lennon has done a wonderful job for such a young manager, to have that type of pressure on you where you are expected to win every game must be very hard.
"To reach the last 16 of the Champions League is nothing but incredible and a real shot in the arm for Scottish football when it was very much required.
"That being said, I believe that the fear factor of going to places like Celtic Park has gone.
"We tried to go toe-to-toe with Celtic in the last game and were severely punished.
"Until the first goal it could have went either way, Celtic were on fire leading up to their game against Barcelona and we weren't at the races - we are looking to put that right on Saturday.
"We are delighted to have come out our wee blip, we are picking up points again, creating numerous chances as well as having one or two clean sheets during that spell too - the boys have gained confidence from this."
