Of the 104 games played, Terrors have recorded 30 wins, and Aberdeen have come away with 49 victories.

The most recent encounter between these two sides at Pittodrie was less than a year ago, in April 2012, with Aberdeen running out comfortable 3-1 winners in a Scottish Premier match.

Ryan Fraser should be available despite undergoing treatment for an ankle knock, while Ryan Jack, Chris Clark, Gary Naysmith and Isaac Osbourne remain out.

The suspension of Brian McLean means Dundee United face a defensive reshuffle, unless Sean Dillon recovers from a thigh injury sooner than expected.

If Dillon is out, captain Jon Daly is likely to be moved from striker to centre-back, while midfielder Willo Flood (groin) is doubtful after going off midway through the first half of the loss to St Mirren.

Dundee United midfielder John Rankin : "We're scoring goals and creating a lot of chances, it's just at the back individual errors are costing us.

"Sooner or later hopefully our luck will change. It's disappointing the way its going just now.

"Aberdeen got a good victory against Dundee, but we've got to go there and hopefully take something out of the game.

"We need to start picking up points and start picking up wins. It's about momentum in this league and we need to get the momentum going quickly.

"We're sitting eighth, but the way we're looking at it we're nine points off second.

"We know if we put a run together, which we can, which we have done in the past, we're confident enough to say we can get to second place and push for a European place again.

"We just need to put a run together, get a few wins and push ourselves up the table."

Aberdeen manager Craig Brown : "Hopefully we can just get through the United game, get a good result and then we have the winter break, which will be fantastic for us.

"If ever a team needed a break it was us. I am delighted to hear some of the boys have booked holidays. They deserve it.

"Also, two of our young lads - Cammy Smith and Ryan Fraser - are going away with the Scotland Uunder-19s to Turkey.

"It will be a good trip for them as neither has played a lot in the team recently and they benefit from the training camp
"I was down watching the Dundee United game. They have now not won in their last 10 home games, so they must be doing well away from home.

"Defensively, they are maybe letting a few goals in, but they are very good from middle to front.

"I always think Dundee United are a good footballing team and will be very difficult opponents."
