Sassy, streetwise Max Black works two jobs just to get by, one of which is waiting tables during the night shift at the retro-hip Williamsburg Diner. Sophisticated Caroline Channing is an uptown trust fund princess who's having a run of bad luck that forces her to reluctantly give waitressing a shot. At first, Max sees Caroline as yet another in a long line of inept servers she must cover for, but she's surprised to find that Caroline has as much substance as she does style. When Caroline discovers Max's knack for baking amazing cupcakes, she sees a lucrative future for them, but first they need to raise the start-up money.

While they save their tips, they'll stay at the restaurant, working with Oleg, an overly flirtatious Russian cook; Earl, a 75-year-old kool-kat cashier; and Han Lee, the new, eager-to-please owner of the diner. Working together, these two broke girls living in one expensive city might just find the perfect recipe for their big break.

This is an amazing series. Everything about the charecters has improved, the jokes even better, and finnaly one of them is in a relationship! Also, the episode where Han pulls out a GUN(!) was pure comedy gold.

The first season, to me, was a mixed bag. It started out not very strong, not using the potential that was there. Luckily, the second half of the show was better, giving us some interesting plots and funny moments.

I hoped they could take that verve to the second season, but having seen three episodes, I must say that I'm disappointed. They have even more characters in the show now than at the beginning of the first season, but they don't really know what to do with them.

Instead of developing the characters, the show currently relies a lot on oneliners, many of them could come up in any sitcom. It all feels very played out even though it's just season 2. Most of the characters are still one note.

How about coming up with more backstory for Max and Caroline? You can always introduce some people from Max's and Caroline's past. Family issues are always good material for comedy. Instead we get Caroline's father in jail giving us some "heartfelt" moments.

What I find odd is that we still know hardly anything about Max, even though she's one of the leads. Why is that? There are four more regulars in the show and only half of them have something to do.That plot arc with Oleg and Sophie was ok, but it now feels stale. He's horny and she's a tramp, we get it.

Han Lee, the owner of the diner isn't an interesting character and it feels like there is almost no use for him. The worst thing, I must say, is what they did with Garret Morris. Why is he in this show? Just to have someone of color present?

Ok, if he needs the money, keep him in the show by all means, but give the man something to do! It's depressing seeing him sit there and having about 2 lines per episode. He deserves better!

All in all, the show has the potential, but it needs better writing and fresh ideas. For now, it's not enough to call it a good show.

It's not bad... It's not good. It's exactly what it needs to be. Very okay.

Lots of sex jokes, sometimes cheesy, sometimes raunchy but most of the times enjoyable. The actresses that play the lead roles are perfectly cast. Especially Kat Dennings, who, even with material that isn't always up to par, lights up the screen with her wonderful, sensual, charismatic, yet sometimes almost painfully sarcastic and bitter sense of humor.

I don't know. I've watched a lot of episodes of season one, and somehow I just keep watching whenever I need some harmless, simple humor. I think that this show completely proves that good leads really can carry a show and capture an audience. It's just a sweet concept, literally, with the cupcakes and all, and it's a warm show, made with some love and fun. I'm not impressed by it but I like it.

At the moment it's the only comedy show I watch. Much better than a lot of other crap out there. Maybe not as good a some shows, like modern family and community or 30 rock. It's not brilliant in any way, it's not new and original in any way, but you really feel for the characters, maybe not right away but after a few episodes you start appreciate them.
