Nugent, the Foxes' leading scorer last season with 16 goals, has missed the last two friendly matches with a thigh strain but the striker will be part of the squad that travels to Teesside.

Zoumana Bakayogo is the only new signing at the King Power Stadium this summer. The former Tranmere defender, who joined the club on a free transfer last week, will provide Paul Konchesky with competition for the left-back spot.

Striker Jermaine Beckford and central midfielder Richie Wellens were the notable departures from Pearson's squad during the close season.

Middlesbrough prepare to entertain Leicester City at Riverside Stadium on Saturday afternoon, and hold the advantage on previous meetings between the two. Of the 39 games played, Boro have recorded 17 wins, and Leicester City have come away with 13 victories.

The most recent encounter between these two sides at Riverside Stadium was less than a year ago, in September 2012, with Leicester City inflicting a narrow 1-2 defeat upon the Boro in a Championship match.

New signing Zoumana Bakayogo will provide Paul Konchesky with competition for the left-back spot.

Head-to-head

Leicester hold a 10-match unbeaten record against Middlesbrough, having won four and drawn six league engagements.

The Teesside club were 'doubled' by Leicester last season, and haven't beaten the Foxes since a 1-0 home win in the Premier League in March 2002, when Frank Sinclair put through his own goal.

The first goal will be the 250th to feature in competitive matches between these clubs.

Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough are making a fifth attempt to return to the Premier League, after a spectacular slump to the second-half of last season, which saw fall from third to 16th with just three wins in 21 games.

18 of the 24 current Championship clubs have had Premier League experience, and 'Boro are the second most experienced with 14 seasons.

The Teesside club have won their opening league fixture just once in 12 seasons (2008).

Leicester City

Leicester are tackling a fifth consecutive Championship campaign, and 10th outside the Premier League after last season's sixth-placed finish and defeat to Watford in the play-off semi-finals.

Nigel Pearson takes his charges back to the club where he ended his playing career in 1998 after 139 appearances.

The Foxes are looking to make a winning league start for the fifth time in six seasons, and third in a row.
