Jenna's extravagant birthday party seems to be too good to be true and Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer think something else might be up - especially when it turns out that Garrett is getting a pass out of jail to visit his ailing mother on the same night. The timing can't just be a coincidence; the Liars are convinced it all has to do something with "A." With Emily getting an insiders' view working the party, Aria working the crowd as a party-goer and Spencer staked out at the hospital, what could go wrong? The answer is - everything. Meanwhile, Hanna's wallowing through heartbreak leads her to a shocking discovery.Never trust a pretty girl with an ugly secret. Gossip thrives amid the Mercedes-Benz, mega mansions, and perfectly manicured hedges in the exclusive town of Rosewood, Pennsylvania. Everyone has something to hide. Based off the book series of the same name, the series follows four estranged best friends Spencer, Hanna, Aria, and Emily who are reunited after their best friend and queen bee of the group, Alison, goes missing only to discover they are receiving messages from an anonymous "A" who knows all their secrets. As for the July 10 installment, it will pay tribute to an all-time hip-hop classic and be titled "That Girl is Poison." Look for Jenna to celebrate her birthday with a lavish party during the episode, and for Spencer to keep an eye on Garrett, who actually gets out of jail for a day.
The girls return to Rosewood after last season's reveal of A's identity, but there are still more secrets that loom before the girls.
Pretty Little Liars is an interesting teen drama shown on ABC Family. The plot of the show involves a circle of four female friends who become engrossed in a missing persons case when the "queen bee" of their group, Allison, goes missing and the remaining friends find themselves being blackmailed by "A" who seems to know an awful lot of their secrets.
Unlike the other ABC Family teen dramas (i.e. - Secret Life of the American Teenager) I found that Pretty Little Liars has much better character development and the actors who portray them are all very believable and talented. Each character has their own interesting subplot which is what really drives the show.
The initial idea of teenage girls being blackmailed definitely was not interesting to me but after the first episode I found myself hooked. I felt like I had to know what happened next to each character, even the ones that seem to have more minor roles.
This may not be a show that will win huge awards since it is definitely meant to appeal to a specific demographic, but it is refreshing to see a teen drama that is not completely based around sex and deals with other common issues too.
This show is interesting enough that even if you are not a teenage girl it is still fun to watch and less feminine or religiously biased than other ABC Family series out there.
Pretty Little Liars‘ fourth episode this season, “Birds of a Feather,” answered the question fans have been waiting to have answered since last season’s finale. Who is the Black Swan? We found out!
The episode started off, though, with the core four discussing 20/20 Jenna. Aria (Lucy Hale), Hanna (Ashley Benson), Emily (Shay Mitchell), and Spencer (Troian Bellisario) don’t know what to believe. The girl faked being blind as a bat for five months, cited Aria, but she looked pretty timid and terrified to Emily.
What about the rest of the nerd squad from the masquerade ball? What about Lucas? What about… the Black Swan? They spot Melissa (Torrey Devitto) in the back of the restaurant. They mostly think it’s Melissa. She faked begin pregnant, and Spencer has stolen two boyfriends from her. Plus, they have footage of her in Alison’s room the night she went missing.
Jason DiLaurentis (Drew Van Acker) has returned to Rosewood! He storms in shouting at Veronica Hastings (Lesley Fera) regarding how she decided to defend Garrett without alerting him first. I guess they’ve built some sort of a relationship, or at least a foundation.
He doesn’t buy that she truly believes he’s innocent, as she claims she does. After he leaves, and Spencer follows, we find out that Jason is offering a $50,000 reward to anyone who turns in Ali’s remains! He’s putting up flyers all over town like she’s a lost dog. As Spencer’s mom notes, anyone who turns in the body would be considered the murderer, and Jason is asking to be screwed over. Then again, maybe whoever dug up Alison is a moron!
