The show follows five lesbians that live in Los Angeles and is on Showtime. Each are in different parts of their lives, engaged, in a relationship, single, and drama like life. All of the lesbians are so pretty and sincere. It just follows them in all their drama and glory.
It's my guilty pleasure… although I've watched The L Word, I find the format of this show very pleasant for an reality show (I normally do not care for reality show). It's funny, sincere, and dramatic… everything you would want from a reality show. Even as a straight girl, all of the girls are super attractive and hot, personality wise and looks. I think my favorite is Mikey, Tracy, and Nikki. But there is something for everyone!
Before I get in to my review, I’d just like to say this is the best shot reality show I’ve seen in my entire life. Seriously, Showtime really shells out the bucks for quality production. I’d also like to mention how shocked I was at the amount of nudity it held for a reality show. Then again, it comes from the same channel that brings us shows like Shameless.
After the previous season living with Alyssa, Whitney has done the “typical lesbian forward motion” and moved in with Sara, despite their problems. She also decided to completely cut Romi out of her life. Whitney seemed so confident with the former decision she suddenly decided it was time to put a ring on it and propose.
Alyssa didn’t think getting engaged was a good idea, but decided to be the bigger friend and support Whitney’s decision. I say Alyssa should object at the wedding. Sara seems like the insanely jealous type who gets on everyone’s nerves, the complete opposite of cool and calm Whitney. We’ll have to see how their relationship pans out.
The big shocker of the episode was Romi’s decision to rekindle her relationship with her ex-boyfriend Jay, something she was scared to share with her friends in fear of being shunned from the lesbian community. One person who wasn’t fazed was Whitney, who told Alyssa she didn’t even believe Romi was was a lesbian. Romi seems like a real flake, so I don’t know how long she’ll be with Jay. One thing I do know is she could tone it down on the amount of makeup she wears. And wear a bra with her next Halloween costume.
Meanwhile lovely couple Kacy and Cori had great news: they’re having a baby girl together after a couple rounds of unsuccessful inseminations. They were so genuinely happy and excited over, which in turn made me happy and excited for them. And the adorable mommy and mom storybook they received as a gift brought the additional “Aww!” factor. They clearly hold the trophy relationship title over the rest of their cast.
New to the L.A. cast is the pink-haired Lauren, a fine jewelry designer who sells pieces for as little as $500 and as much as $50,000 (get it, girl!) She’s acquainted with Whitney through dating Romi’s ex, and apparently she and Romi have some form of rivalry. Her best friend / friend-with-benefits Amanda is coming to live with her from New York, and Amanda is apprehensive about their sexual tension. Clearly an inevitable hookup will occur, but Amanda seems much more concerned about it than Lauren.
Over in New York, we were introduced to the members of Toronto-based, lesbian punk band Hunter Valentine, which is composed of singer Kiyomi, drummer Laura, bassist Veronica, and keyboard player Somer, a friend of Kiyomi. The episode showed a lot of Kiyomi and Somer, whose relationship is clearly going to be tested in the upcoming season as the two both hold dominant personalities. Somer is a newlywed and didn’t seem that dedicated to the Hunter Valentine tour, so I’m not sure how she’ll work as a member of the band.
