Dundee are ready to welcome St. Johnstone to Dens Park on Saturday afternoon, and hold the advantage on previous meetings between the two. Of the 72 games played, Dee have recorded 36 wins, and St. Johnstone have come away with 23 victories.
The previous match played between the two at Dens Park was more than three years back, in April 2009, with St. Johnstone inflicting a narrow 0-1 defeat upon the Dee in a Scottish Division One match.
But strikers Steven MacLean and Craig Beattie are competing for starts after the former scored twice and the latter made his debut in midweek.
Dundee manager Barry Smith : "In our last home game, we were very good against Motherwell, who're top of the league.
"That's the kind of standards we want to aim for but have to try and maintain that for the 90 minutes.
"Ideally, we would like a repeat of our first-half display, but obviously we want a different result.
"We want a victory for ourselves and for the fans but know we can't afford to switch off at any time.
"Saints are doing really well and they're a quality side.
"We respect them but know ourselves what we're capable of on our day, which is what we have to concentrate on."
St Johnstone defender Dave Mackay : "If we turn up with a poor attitude thinking we are going to walk that game then we are in real danger - it is not going to happen.
"It will be a very tough game. It is a derby as well, Barry will have his players up for it, so we will be wary of them.
"The SPL is so tight that any team can beat any other on their day.
"We are about four from the top and four from the bottom, it is so tight.
"If you don't concede goals, you give yourself a better chance of winning games.
"We have lost only two goals in the last three games compared to previous games where, when you are shipping two or three, it gives you an uphill battle.
"We are also starting to take our chances, which is helpful."
