Since its debut in 2004, "The X Factor" has remained the U.K.'s #1 program for the last seven years, peaking with an audience of 21 million for its 2010 finale. The format swiftly broke similar records around the world, where local versions have consistently rated #1. The series has received numerous honors worldwide, and more than 100 million records have been sold by artists launched through the series, including over 90 #1 singles and albums and 150 Top Ten records.

In a departure from other singing competition series, the first time contestants audition for "The X Factor" judges, Simon Cowell, Antonio "L.A." Reid, Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger, they will do so in front of an audience of thousands - raising the stakes and increasing the pressure to impress not only the judges, but also a potential legion of fans.

This will be the ultimate test to prove they have the vocal ability, charisma and stage presence that it takes to win an unprecedented $5 million recording contract with Syco/Sony Music. This year they will be judged by Simon Cowell, "L.A" Reid, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato.

Britney Spears is the new meanie on the second season of “The X Factor”, which previously saw “Mr. Nasty” Simon Cowell in that role. Britney isn’t taking any prisoners whatsoever, even if the competitor had previously worked with her. In case you’ve missed the show, you can read our full and detailed recap here.

In Austin, Texas, Paige Thomas kicked off the show with some Mary J. Blige and hit it right out of the park. Waiting in the wings was Kaci Newton, who claimed that she is a mix between Carrie Underwood and Adele, which proved to be the biggest lie of the night.

Shawn Armenta couldn’t carry a tune, despite saying that he had some intense vocal training. He actually had the cojones to call Demi out for using auto-tune. In a montage, Britney said no to some “X Factor” hopefuls about a thousand times. Is she the new bad guy on the show? They are sure trying to hype Simon up as the nice guy this season…

Reed Deming performed “It Will Rain” by Bruno Mars, but got stopped by Simon in the middle of the track. Simon asked to hear something different and Reed came through with “Grenade”. It was a “yes” from all four judges.

Cocky Kaci finally took the stage to perform, but proved to be awful. Katy Perry just died after hearing Kaci’s rendition of “Firework” and so did we. With all of the build up to her performance, you would think she would’ve been fantastic.

After Austin, the show went to San Francisco, California and we begin in this city with a montage. Quatrelle Da’an Smith performed Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” and was truly terrible, but got through on the courtesy of Britney, Demi and Simon — because L.A. was the only one with any sense.

Emblem3 might prove to be the act to beat this season singing “Sunset Boulevard”, an original song. They knocked it out of the park and are definitely the ones to watch. Simon wanted a guy group to take over the U.S. and it looks like that’s exactly what he got.

Jillian James took to the stage last to tell her story of being bullied. Her story struck a chord with Demi, who was also a victim of bullying. She cried throughout the entire song, but performed well and was given the green light to go through to the next round.

the show sucks big time....it's fake i feel like i am watching one of those reality TV shows where they got the scrips and have to act according to the scripts......never seen something worse ( i thought AI became a disaster but this show is worse)its nice that they allow young people but that doesn't mean the show is good.....its not serious ,,,,,,you see the judges at the table deciding and smiling or looking sad and stuff and you know 100 %
