The Toffees will be hoping to improve upon a record which has seen them lose 46 and win only 19 of the 83 games.

The most recent encounter between these two sides at Eastlands was just last season, in September 2011, with Manchester City running out comfortable 2-0 winners in a Premier League match.

The games have also taken on added significance ahead of next weekend's Manchester derby, which, despite coming before Christmas, could prove crucial in the title race.

Everton, though, have their own ambitions and, after dropping out of the top four, David Moyes will want his squad to get back on track.

In midweek, when City won at Wigan, Everton drew with Arsenal to record a sixth share of the points in eight games.

The Toffees have won just one match in that period and Moyes knows, despite an uncharacteristically strong start to the season, a UEFA Champions League dream is slipping.

But Everton do have a good record against City and they were the last team to win a Premier League game at the Etihad back in December 2010.

Everton manager David Moyes has concerns over the fitness of star man Leighton Baines ahead of the game in Manchester.

The left-back has been Everton's stand-out player in the last two seasons but he hurt his hamstring in Wednesday's draw against Arsenal.

Moyes will also assess the fitness of striker Nikica Jelavic who was only a late addition to Everton's team in the 1-1 result with Arsenal after previously not training due to illness.

Manchester City

City have scored more goals from outside the box (five) than any other team in the Premier League this season.

They have also had an unrivalled 142 attempts on target in the Premier League this season.

The champions are the first team in Premier League history to avoid defeat in their opening 14 games for two seasons in succession, though they have six points fewer (32) than at the same stage last season (38).

Against Wigan, Mario Balotelli scored his first goal of the Premier League season with his 30th shot. No other player had as many attempts without scoring.

Everton

Everton have only managed one win from their last eight Premier League matches, six of which were draws.

The Toffees have committed 181 fouls in the Premier League this season, the equal-most alongside Stoke City.

Leighton Baines has created more chances for team-mates (53) than any other Premier League player this season.
