QPR were soundly beaten by Southampton, and the London side come into the first weekend of December still without a league win this season.

QPR are eight points from the safety mark of 17th place, a position which is filled by Aston Villa after their 1-0 victory over Reading on Tuesday night, which was their third league win of the season.

Unless you've been hiding under a rock for the past week or so, you'll know that this is Harry Redknapp's first home match in charge since succeeding Hughes . He is one of two people who will dominate many of the previews to this match.

The other is Villa striker Darren Bent, who may or may not play, having not been selected for the last few matches despite being fit. Indeed there are many reports that Bent may be a target for Redknapp when the transfer window opens next month.

The Harry effect is bound to lead to a considerable improvement in the general mood at Loftus Road this weekend; whether that will help QPR to a first league win of the season is another question altogether. It's likely to be a tense afternoon for both sides.

Queens Park Rangers

Harry Redknapp has never lost a Premier League home debut as a manager - winning two (both with Portsmouth) and drawing three.

QPR are the only club in the top four divisions without a win this season. Failure to beat Villa would mean they equal Swindon's Premier League record of 15 games without victory, set in 1993-94.

They have the worst goalscoring record in the division, with 10 goals in 13 matches.

The R's are vying to keep back-to-back clean sheets for the first time in 15 months.

Djibril Cisse has scored four goals in six league matches against Aston Villa, including one when the sides last met in February.

Aston Villa

Villa are looking to win consecutive league matches for the first time in 18 months.

Paul Lambert's side have kept back-to-back clean sheets; they last went three league games without conceding a goal in January 2010.

Villa's victory over Sunderland four weeks ago is their only Premier League away win in 15 attempts (W1, D5, L9).

Their starting line-up against Reading on Tuesday was the club's youngest ever in the Premier League, with an average age of 23 years and 324 days.

Seventeen of the 22 goals they have conceded have come in the second half - the highest percentage (77%) in the top flight.

The Villans have only gained one point from losing positions this season.
